I am trying to write a research paper about homeless individuals keeping pets, their reasons for keeping them, and whether or not it should be considered animal cruelty. (I am all for allowing the homeless to have pets, I just like playing devil's advocate). However, I am greatly struggling with finding legitimate, academic articles and websites (databases as well). I was wondering if anyone could suggest some specific articles for me to look at while in my early stages of research?

Look for Rescue Mission preceded by the name of the city, St. Vincent Catholic Charities, or the Salvation Army. Each will have a well maintained website and usually even a newspaper. I personally had to give my dog away but it does present many who are on the verge of homelessness with a real dilemma.
