Why do so many people who buy pets they know nothing about?

What i mean is we seem to have a lot of questions from people about thier pets , that they really should KNOW the answers to before buying the pets. IF you dont know what to feed it dont buy it !OR is it just me?|||Because they don't really care about the animals... it's just a toy or an accessory... a diversion... an amusement.

That little creature isn't important to them.... only their entertainment matters. These selfish and immature people were never taught to value life.|||i agree. i also love the question "how can i convince my parents to buy me a dog?". it's perfect. mom and dad KNOW that they are going to be the ones scooping poop after the poop gets on the kid's Hollister shoes...|||This is why I don't like pet stores that actually sell pets. People walk in to buy cat food, and see an Akita puppy that they just can't resist, but don't realize that these dogs are originally fighting dogs, and that puppy is going to grow to be HUGE. Or they see an exotic lizard or bird that they feel they need based on an impulse, but they don't have any idea about how extensive their care is. It really irritates me, it is sad for the pets who end up in bad homes.|||Some people just ask questions to get the answers. I know that when I get on here somtimes I'm just bored and want to see what people have too say. Some of the people on here are just ignorant and don't have enough common sense to find the answer before they get the pet, but mos of the people on here just want something to do!|||Many people purchase animals on impulse. They see or hear about a certain pet and want it. They do not do the proper research needed.

I personally feel research is essential. Type of pet should determine how much time goes into research. When I was researching parrot I spent months going over everything, talking to people, vets, rescues etc. With exotics people should expect to do a minimum of 2-3 months researching, and reading. A dog a few weeks(as most people know the care required and much of the research should go into the proper breed of dog that fits into the families lifestyle)

It's not just you, I can never fathom why people buy an animal(especially exotics) before doing their homework, like they think the animal won't be available for sale in a few months time.
