Why people who own pets refuse to accept studies?

There is an 85% chance of a child to develop parasitic problems in homes with indoor domestic pets. There is a 73% chance of anyone in a home with indoor domestic pets to develop lime disease.

Dogs are carriers of gonorrhea and the number one reason humans have it is letting their best friend lick them. There is plenty more why people who own pets refuse to accept them?|||I'm pretty sure people love their pets more than those facts.|||there is a 85% chance of people believing you if you use statistics...

actually pets help build the immune system. you eat dirt when you're a kid an survive. they reduce stress and help the child integrate better in the society. and most of the studies usually have something that's wrong about them- either a sampling error (wrong sample, sample that is too small).

if you don't like pets, you have the option to not have one. if you have something with the idea of having pets, then go somewhere and die because you don;t have the right to impose on others.|||Probably because they don't know about the results, or there are conflicting reports.

I for one, an avid reader of veterinary medicine and epidemiology have never come across that statistic.

Anecdotally, I grew up with pets and so did many of my friends, as did my parents and no-one I know suffered from any of the above issues.

I have never heard these statistics but if you could add in the additional information a link to a study I would be happy to read.

Cheers.|||I guess they hate to hate there pets? Though as a pet owner myself I guess if this was like something super important it would be one the news and there would be a worldwide issue to rid of all pets. Though if it ever came down to the fact of my health vs my pet I would get rid of the pet.

Also does this include goldfish?|||Because I was oblivious to them. Anyways only parts of the world have the beetles with lime disease. I do not live in one of those places. I give my dog a pill every month that prevents my dog from getting any worms or parasites....is this good enough?
