I would like to start an organization that goes to foreclosed homes and checks for abandoned pets.?

In San Diego County there are so many foreclosures and people are so desperate that they leave their pets abandoned in their home where their fate is horrific: a slow a painful death due to starvation or exposure.

I would work with banks and realtors to have access to homes to rescue pets and at least get them to a shelter where they would have food, water, and at least a chance of being adopted.

Any advice or has anyone heard of such an organization?

|||The sheriff or marshall (depending on size of city) checks every foreclosure. They put their seal on the door after they are done.

You would have to have some serious bonds and insurance to be able to gain entry into homes without a real estate license (the brokers carry the insurance) as anyone letting you in is liable if you are hurt. |||have to be through the animal shelter or police station-they not going to give you the right to go through houses without authority-sorry-bank or mortgage company not going to give you information due to privacy act||| You are a wonderful person...thank you for taking care of our pet friends. How can anyone leave a beloved family member behind...isn't that awful. So thank you.|||The New York TImes newspaper had 2 articles on this in the last week. You can read them at nytimes.com. /
