What are some dogs good with other pets?

I have Guinea Pigs and I would be horrified if my dog attacked them or killed them. What are some small dogs good with other pets? Also, you might think if it's a small dog it couldn't reach the cage, but we have a couch right next to it, so the dog could easily jump into it (it doesn't have a top).|||Nothing that was bread to hunt, ie. basically all terriers, poodles, spaniels and I bet there are more

I would say a pug would work out, or a dachshund!

You could always go to a local rescue and ask them too, they're very dog knowledgeable.|||Cool! Just make sure you talk to the breeder/rescue, wherever you get the dog from. Because even though pugs in general don't mind other small animals, there are always the oddballs!

Good luck and have fun =)

|||You would want to look at dogs like pugs, try and stay away from terriers except maybe a boston and deffinately no spitz type breeds such as a shib inu or basenji who have high prey drives as well as herding dogs which would also be very interested in the little piggys. Once you have picked a puppy and brought it home it is key that you establish that the guinea pigs are not for playing with. Reward any time they notice but don't bother the guinea pigs and scold anytime they do as well as remove them from the area.

Look at the dogs in the toy and non-sporting groups

http://www.akc.org/breeds/toy_group.cfm take a look at the pug, havanese, or shih tzu

http://www.akc.org/breeds/non-sporting_g鈥?/a> try the regular and french bulldog as well as the tibetan spaniel and bichon frise|||Absolutely ANY breed of dog can be okay with small animals. It's how you raise them. Youtube, "pitbull sharky" and you'll see that any dog can be okay with them. Judging your situation and what you said, you probably shouldn't get a dog, period. No offense but it takes a lot of work for a dog to be all right with small animals.

Sam- Are you kidding me? Boston terriers were bred as fighting dogs. Any terrier if raised correctly can be good with small animals. I have ten Amstaffs and 2 cats, they sleep with them....they don't chase squirrels when they're in the backyard, they just look and walk away.|||it completely depends on the dog 100%. I have a poodle that is great with all other animals even my tortoise and a chow Collie that tried to eat my hamster and two of my tortoises.|||Leaving any dog unsupervised with a cage with small animals in reach is a bad idea. I think you should put your guinea pigs in a safer area.|||ha hahahahaha smaller than ur guinea pig....idk... i would be HORRIFIED.. :) idk i had a rottweiler and he guarded our cats not ate them he even slept on same bed with em......... in comparison... put a top on it then .... idk (we)|||Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, very placid and playful

Springer Spaniel..

any good natured puppy, you make dogs what they are.|||Well any dog can be good if they are trained and socialized correctly.|||trained and socialized ones
