What pets are legal in brisbane australia?

Are guinea pigs, ferrets, chinchillas and/or rabbits legal as pets in brisbane? If not, what parts of australia are they legal in, if any. Thanks in advance.|||Elizabeth has got it right...rabbits %26amp; ferrets are definitely not allowed .

Guinea pigs are okay, as are rats. You would be best advised to contact parks %26amp; wildlife if you want something exotic as you may need a permit .|||Are you wanting to import any of these animals or try to purchase them here?

None of those animals can be brought into Australia.

Guinea Pigs are legal.

As far as I know Chinchillas are illegal here, I've never seen any advertised or in pet shops or known anyone who has one.

Illegal in Queensland -

Ferrets (Mustela furo) are a Class 1 declared pest animal in Queensland. Class 1 pests established in Queensland are subject to eradication from the state. It is a serious offence to introduce, keep or supply a Class 1 pest without a permit issued by Queensland Primary Industries and Fisheries. Penalties of up to $60,000 apply.

All varieties of rabbit including domestic breeds are Class 2 declared animals under Queensland legislation.

http://www.dpi.qld.gov.au/cps/rde/dpi/hs鈥?/a>|||Guinea pigs and ferrets are ok. Keeping rabbits is illegal as they are considered a pest. We don't have chinchillas in Australia unless you are referring to the breed of cat.

I believe rabbits are ok in all other states but the numbers you can keep are restricted. Rabbits breed "like rabbits" and can become a massive problem if pet owners are not responsible. So keeping 2 females or 2 males is ok bar the fighting issues. One bunny creates enough mess on its own !|||Try this, hope it works
